We heard the dingos singing/howling during the night and kangaroos and other creatures wandering around our campsite.
I must say with the moon not rising until the early hours of the morning it was the darkest night I have ever experienced. As Jeff would say "it was as black as a black dog's guts at midnight"
After a bush brekky we were off for another day cruising, on our way out of Kakadu towards Darwin, stopping at every place of interest.
On the way we passed over the South and East Alligator Rivers, saw billabongs at the side of the road, drove across the floodplains, across the Wild an River, Mary River, Corroboree Creek and ,lots of other waterways, there is no shortage of water up here.
We saw lots of varieties of birdlife, and visited another amazing Visitors Centre at the "Windows on the Wetlands".
Windows on the Wetlands Visitor Centre |
Windows on the Wetlands Visitor Centre is perched on top of Beatrice Hill, one of the highest points on the Adelaide River Floodplain. The visitor centre provides an introduction to the Northern Coastal Wetlands.

There were wild water buffalo grazing and of course the thousands of birds. This part of the Northern Territory is a bird watchers paradise.

Onwards to Darwin and our home for the next 8 days, The Free Spirit Caravan Park. Another palm treed oasis!
We couldn't wait to settle in and hit one of the three swimming pools, as it was very hot and humid.
After a refreshing swim in one of the small pools - no kids - we ventured up to the main pool and bar/restaurant area for dinner by the pool under the palm trees with little fairy lights in the trees and a nice cool breeze.
What more can I say, Hello Darwin
